PhoneDesigner imagines a Windows Phone with a rotating camera

Imagine a Windows Phone with only one great shooter, capable of being both the front and rear facing camera.

That’s exactly what regular concept builder PhoneDesigner envisioned with his Lumia 945 concept.

His Spinner Phone has a large 4.7 inch screen but is only  7 mm thick, and features a premium aluminium and polycarbonate design with the camera module perched on the top right corner of the handset, capable of spinning both forward and back.

Of course while this design will eliminate quality differences between the front and rear camera, it is likely over the course of months to years it will be the first item to fail on your phone, due to the mechanical stress of a moving part.

Mobile messaging app Threema lands in the Windows Phone Store

Threema is a new mobile messaging app for Windows Phone that is billed as putting privacy first with end-to-end encryption to help insure that your messages can only be read by you and its intended recipient.

We had heard rumblings that the messaging app was in the works for Windows Phone over the summer and it hit Store shelves this morning. Threema's claim to fame is the security it offers through not only its encryption but also the anonymity. You can use Threema without the need for personal information such as email addresses or phone numbers and your messages are deleted from Threema servers after delivery.

At first glance, Threema comes across as an appealing and feature rich messaging option worth considering.

Key features of Threema include:

• Write text messages and send videos/photographs
• Share locations
• Send voice messages
• Synchronize your contacts (optional)
• All text and voicemail messages, as well as pictures, videos, and GPS locations, are end-to-end encrypted
• Verify the identity of a contact by scanning his or her personal QR code

Threema is also available for iOS and Android devices enabling you to reach out to friends who don't necessarily use a Windows Phone.

Microsoft officially Launched the much awaited Lumia 535 in India at Price Tag of Rs.9199

The Microsoft Lumia 535 features a 5 inch 960×540 pixels IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3, a 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory with a microSD card slot, 5 megapixel rear camera (f/2.4 aperture, 28mm lens, LED flash), wide angle 5 megapixel front facing camera (24mm lens, f/2.4 aperture), Dual-SIM (and single SIM too), 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, an FM Radio, and a 1905 mAh battery, all powering Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim.

The phone is designed to be an alternative to the Lumia 530 but has a front facing camera and drops the Snapdragon 400 processor for a Snapdragon 200 instead.

The Lumia 535 is the first smartphone to drop the ‘Nokia’ brand in favour of Microsoft’s branding. From here on now, expect to see the Microsoft logo at the front of all Lumia phones, with the windows phone logo start key, and both the windows logo and Microsoft logo at the back of the phone.

Microsoft Deploys Autonomous Security at its campus in Silicon Valley

As we are marking this year as Internet of things, Microsoft took a step forward by deploying autonomous security robots at its campus in Silicon Valley. Microsoft has deployed a fleet of 5-feet-tall, 300-pound robots to protect its Silicon Valley campus. These robots includes 360 degree HD security cameras and sensors to monitor the surroundings. The K5 robots come from a California company called Knightscope. It packs lots of capabilities, for example, It can also read license plates and cross-reference them to see if they’re stolen.

 The purpose of the K5, like most robots, is straightforward: To replace expensive human workers. The K5 can run for around 24 hours on a single battery charge, automatically navigates back to the charging point when it’s running low, and only takes 15-20 minutes to recharge. Obviously, in the long run, this is cheaper and more efficient than a human security guard — plus, as technology improves, the K5 will probably be more vigilant and capable of spotting smaller discrepancies than a human. In theory, because of the lower cost, you could also field lots of K5 robots, reducing the number of potential holes in security coverage.

Microsoft Lumia 535 Set to Launch in India on November 26

Microsoft India on Friday sent invites for an event scheduled on Wednesday, where it is expected to launch the first Microsoft-branded smartphone, the Lumia 535.

The invite sent by the company reads, "Five days to magic of triple 5." That, of course, is a pointer to the "5x5x5" Microsoft Lumia 535.

Last week, the company had unvieled the smartphone, saying, "the new Microsoft Lumia 535, our "5x5x5" smartphone package bringing a 5-inch screen, 5-megapixel front- and rear-facing camera, and free integrated Microsoft experiences (such as Skype and OneNote) to more people at an affordable price."

The new Lumia smartphone from Microsoft comes in two variants - single SIM (with the same name) and dual-SIM, called the Lumia 535 Dual Sim Support The handset is priced at EUR 110 (roughly Rs. 8,400) before taxes and subsidies.

Both the Microsoft Lumia 535 and Lumia 535 Dual SIM come with identical specifications; except the latter features dual-SIM support. The smartphone runs WindowsPhone 8.1 with Lumia Denim update and features a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a qHD (540x960 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of 220ppi. It also sports Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The Lumia 535 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz alongside 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB of built-in storage that is further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Much like other Lumia handsets, the Lumia 535 and Lumia 535 Dual SIM also get 15GB of free OneDrive cloud storage.

Microsoft is back once again with its new Cortana vs. Siri advertisement. The company’s latest ad focuses on Cortana’s reminder features, such as traffic-based reminders.
