Nokia Lumia 1020 Wins CES Innovations Awards 2014 under Digital Imaging category

Nokia’s highly anticipated flagship cameraphone Lumia 1020 have been honoured at 2014 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards in the Digital Imaging product category. The handset stands out as the one and only smartphone in the Digital Imaging category.
Honored for its 41-megapixel sensor and innovative PureView imaging technology, the Lumia 1020 produces some of the sharpest images of any digital camera available on the market today.

Scoring highly across all judging criteria, the Lumia 1020 has been selected by an esteemed panel of designers, engineers and journalists. And it’s no surprise, when you consider that with Nokia Camera, consumers have the ability to control features such as exposure value, ISO and manual focus, the way they would with DSLRs, giving a truly unique imaging experience on a smartphone.
Ranking alongside compact digital cameras, digital system cameras and camcorders, judges were looking out for engineering qualities, user value and how the design and innovation of each product directly compared to other products in the marketplace. Landing a place on the honoree’s table rounds off a fantastic year for PureView and the Lumia 1020.

Leak: Nokia’s ready for a new imaging flagship + 3D touch and Siri-like assistant in WP8.1 handsets

It was only July when the Nokia Lumia 1020 was announced but Nokia may be set on announcing a new imaging flagship already. Why not? Keep on improving whilst others are still catching up to Nokia’s cameras from 2 years ago.
Other interesting things include 3D touch with ‘goldfinger’  and a Siri-like assistant (cortana or better?). 3D touch? Air gestures or pressure gestures?

evLeaks has been busy today, and besides revealing that Goldfinger and Moneypenny would be WP8.1 handsets, he has now also tweeted the features of two additional handsets.

He revealed one of the handsets will be a new imaging flagship like the Nokia Lumia 1020,1520.
The other handset will feature a Siri-like voice assistant.  This last tip is quite odd, as we assumed all WP8.1 handsets will come with Cortana,

Lockmix – A new lock screen customization app for Windows Phone 8

| |
0 comments

Lockmix is a new Windows Phone 8 application that turns your lock screen into a grid where you can pin multiple widgets and customize them to your liking. The widgets then update in regular intervals to display various information. Customization behaves similarly to the tiles on the start screen, so you will feel at home – you can individually pin or unpin widgets, move them around, resize them, or configure them.

The application offers a variety of widgets which you can pin to the lock screen – weather, battery, map, appointments, news, custom RSS, exchange rates, daily quotes, jokes and more.

Background can be displayed from Bing, or you can use your own image, or you can even have multiple custom images shuffled or rotated regularly.

Lockmix is free, and a lot of the widgets are free too. Other widgets are available as in-app purchases, but even those can be fully tried out first.

Find the app in the Window Phone Store here.

Nokia Camera for Windows Phone 8

Nokia today released an update for its Nokia Camera app. This v4.4.0.8 bring the support for DNG capture (Digital Negative Format) on the Lumia 1520 and 1020 running the Lumia Black software update. It also has tweaks for other Lumia devices running on Amber update as well.

 Nokia Camera features:

Nokia Camera replaces Nokia Pro Cam with no loss in functionality, yet also includes all the best features of Nokia Smart Cam.

The auto mode makes it easy for anyone to capture great images with ease, and provides quick access to sport and night controls. And when you want to create that perfect composition, manual mode offers controls for exposure, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and focus.

There's also smart sequence, which quickly shoots a series of photos that can be combined in different ways. You can emphasize motion, remove moving objects or show action using a strobe effect.

You can also change faces in group shots so that everyone has their eyes open. The original versions of your photo are stored, so you can zoom, reframe and edit them long after they were taken.

New in this version: - Support for DNG capture (Digital Negative Format) on the Lumia 1520 and 1020 running the Lumia Black software update

Download it here from Windows Phone Store for free.

The Verge has also tapped their sources, and revealed the handsets will feature “3D Touch”, which is believed to be a gesture-based system which would allow users to scroll the web browser or move to the next music track merely by moving their hand above the screen, much like Airplay.

Hopefully the feature will be a bit more integrated that Samsung’s gimmicky system.
