Panorama App Photosynth For Windows Phone Updated To Version 1.7

| |
0 comments
It’s been more than a year since Microsoft updated its 360 degree panorama app Photosynth for Windows Phone. Today the popular panorama app picked up a minor bug fix update and bumped to version 1.7.
Photosynth is one of the best panorama applications available on Windows Phone Store. The app allowing you to create interactive 360 degree panoramas of the places, people, and events that you can share.
Version 1.7, unfortunately, does not bring any new features though it does say 'bug fixes' for a changelog. Considering the multitudes of new devices and even a brand new operating systems (Windows Phone 8.1), it's not too surprising that Photosynth could use a little polishing.
Regardless, if you've never tried Photosynth, it's certainly worth the download as it's one of a kind on Windows Phone. Hopefully Microsoft hasn't forgotten about the app, especially after the high profile departure of Agüera y Arcas, an engineer who helped develop Photosynth.

We've already covered some locations across Europe where consumers can pre-order the Lumia 930, but Finnish mobile operator TeliaSonera has the new Windows Phone available for pre-order, priced at €549 with an expected release date of July 10 (July 3 for Ireland). The new Windows Phone from Nokia, which sold its handset division to Microsoft earlier this year, is the new flagship from Microsoft Mobile and is available in a variety colors.

Sonera is only stocking the black, white and green variants, but other sources do have the missing orange in case you're an avid fan. Another local operator, Saunalahti will be selling the same Windows Phone. The Finnish arm of retailer Expansys will be stocking the orange, white, green and black colors too, as well as Verkkokauppa. There are options available, that's for sure.

So, who's looking to pick one up? If so, which color will you be going for?

Marcus Ash talks about Cortana on other platforms

| |
0 comments

A video has now surfaced showing Microsoft’s Marcus Ash (Group Program Manager for Windows Phone) answering the question, and from his response we can gather it is not the first time the issue has been discussed by the Windows Phone team.
He explained that the number 1 priority was to provide an excellent experience on Windows Phone, to help sell handsets, but after this has been well bedded in, the second priority would be spreading Cortana to the rest of the Microsoft ecosystem.
After this however the question of going cross-platform did come up, and he notes that Microsoft needed to be where their customers were, and that by going cross-platform they could provide an advantage to their users who used multiple ecosystems.
Our readers will note that Google Now is not just available on Android handsets, but also iOS and even the desktop via Chrome.  Should Microsoft also aim for ubiquity, or at the very least availability on multiple platforms? Let us know below.

Rumours suggests one handset will have a 5-inch full-HD display, Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, 16GB internal storage and a microSD card slot and will be Canvas-branded.
